The best vintage shops in Malasaña, Madrid.
Ahhh vintage clothes: nice, cool, trendy and cheap…
eh ehm well cheap, not exactly…right now when you go shopping for second hands clothes it looks like you are buying gold.
A pair of almost-to-piece jeans which price is 3 times a new one is not exactly a big deal. But there is a neighbourhood where buying vintage is still very convenient and fun: Malasaña in the centre of Madrid, Spain.
Finding goods occasion in the best vintage shops in Malasaña is not difficult, so let’s have a walk in this nice neighbourhood!
Vintage Kilo, C/Espiritu santo 1 & C/La Palma 3
Yes, you heard it right. You choose your clothes, they weight them, you pay. Easy no? The medium price is 24 euro a kilo.
The selection is quite good, and it is not hard to find what you are looking for since all the goods are carefully divided and put in order!
Ah, the staff is very friendly, another good point!
PS. There are 2 Vintage Kilo in Malasaña. For the address look above.
Templo de Susu, C/Espiritu santo 1
Just go out Vintage Kilo and at the next door you will find this peculiar site. A big harley davidson parked inside the entrance of the shop. That’s the first thing you notice.
The shop is very different from the others. When you go in you breath a retro rock 70’s style, and in fact what they sell is retro leather jackets, jeans and boots. Staff, real rockers, is very picturesque and very friendly.
Miss Vintage, C/Espiritu santo 7
On the same street of the above cited shops here is a tiny but beautiful shop.
The style is much more hipster, selection is great and well ordered. It is absolutely the right place to find very rare shirt from the 70s and bags.
Price are not extremely cheap but absolutely honest, especially because their offer is very specific and personal. So very good. They also sell new stuff.
Retro City, Carredera Alta de San Pablo 4
Even if the internal decoration of the shop is not one of the best in Malasaña, this is one of my favourite shop. There you can find a great selection of used clothes as jackets, jeans and shoes.
What I really love is the offer of sporty shorts from the 80’s…Adidas, Puma or old Spanish brands for me unknown but very cool. Very good bargains from 8 euros on!
La Mona Checa, Calle de Velarde 2
The first thing we suggest you when you go in is…look up!
The ceiling is covered by an immense and wonderful red and white circus tent, which gives to the entire shop a very warm light and atmosphere. Then you can start searching: here you can find a loooot of stuff, especially for women! Clothes, boots, clock, cameras…everything 100% vintage! And what’s more important at great prices!
Magpie, Calle Velarde 3
One of the biggest and probably best furnished vintage shop in Madrid (for us of course.)
T-shirts, jeans, hats, shoes, boots, shirts, jerseys, jackets and jewels, for men and women. They also have used wedding clothes at great value!
Seriously it’s gonna take a couple of hours to explore it in a serious way.
A must in your search for unique vintage pieces in the capital of Spain!
Lakari Kala, Calle de la Palma 20
If it is not only clothes what you look for we suggest Lakari Kala: this is not a clothes shop, but a furniture one.
A very special one. A great collection of equipment from the past century, especially from the 60s, but also new design stuff, with very nice pieces (I loved the wooden flesh lamp, guess who’s going to buy it?).
The entire shop has been decorated with a very very nice and modern style and taste. The owner must be an interior designer itself.
Even if you are not going to buy anything, trust me, go and have a nice walk in!
